gam zeh ya avor Magic ring

A Magic Ring
Once upon a time there lived this Jewish king named Solomon. He knew that Benamiah Ben Yehoyada, his minister is very intelligent, and other ministers do not agree to that. He wanted to prove that and teach them a lesson. So he asked all his ministers to take up an assignment that would be a seemingly impossible task. He asked them including Benamiah to find him a magic ring with extraordinary features. And that was who ever wearing the ring are feeling happy and wore the ring, he/she would become feeling unhappy. And vice-versa - If he/she were feeling unhappy and wore it, he/she would become feeling happy! He also ordered that whoever brings the magic ring will be rewarded and others will be punished with an imprisonment for a day.

And Solomon gave him a six-month timeline for the search. Deep down in their hearts, everybody including both Solomon and Benamiah knew that such a ring did not exist in this universe. However Benamiah prayed hard for a miracle and he believed that miracles happen. Others started fearing that they are going to be punished for an impossible task the king had given and started searing without any hope and feeling of frustration about their fate.
On the other hand, Benamiah was searching hard with a hope. A little before the deadline was over, he decided to go to one of the poorest places in Jerusalem.
There he saw an old merchant who was spreading out his goods on a carpet. Benamiah thought, “Let me take a chance with him.” Therefore, he asked the merchant whether he had a magic ring that could make a happy person forget his happiness and a sad person forget his sorrow. The merchant smiled. He took a gold ring from his wares and etched four words on it. When Benamiah took the gold ring and read the inscription, he felt that his mission was accomplished.
He went back to Solomon. All ministers had returned. Solomon asked each of them to exhibit the magic ring. Except Benamiah, all hanged their face down as they had returned empty-handed. Benamiah smiled and offered the gold ring to His Majesty. As soon as Solomon read what was written, he stopped being a tease. The words were "gam zeh ya avor" meaning “this too shall pass”. He allowed other ministers also to wear and see the magic.
Including Solomon all felt that everything in life was ephemeral, and nothing lasts forever and thanked Benamiah for bringing a difference to their life and acknowledged that the Ring is indeed magic and more than that Benamiah is very intelligent! Benamiah thanked Soloman for an opportunity. Benamiah also thanked the GOD for creating a miracle and brought a difference to many people.

Dying Rich vs living rich

In the article “The Indian senior citizen: Dying rich but not living rich” by Mahesh Pai reproduced hereunder, he highlights: - how many Indian seniors spend their lives saving and investing for the next generation, often denying themselves comfort and joy. - Emotional attachment to property and traditional investments, rising healthcare costs, and outdated financial habits keep them away from living fully.  - urges seniors to prioritize their well-being, diversify investments, enjoy their resources, and embrace changing times — living meaningfully instead of merely accumulating wealth to leave behind. To me : Richness is not about the money we hold or hoard, but about living exuberantly with what we have. Financial independence does matters — to live our old age with dignity, without depending on our children, physically or financially. In India, cannot depend on the Government also, despite we pay tax for earning and spending. If we own far more than we ever need or u...
